As a proponent of environmental conscientiousness, Montgomery Oaks Managment Inc. (MOMI) was looking for a way to enhance its sustainability measures at their Elevation 314 building located in Takoma Park.
By 2016, Elevation 314 had already won numerous awards for their environmental and sustainable design, such as the MNCBIA 2004 Environmental Award, NAHB 2006 National Green Building Award and VA ASLA 2007 Special Commendation for Sustainable Design. But they thought they’d outdo themselves by being even more green: working with Aurora to install 480 SunPower E-series panels on their roof.
The 157 kW system will generate over 180 megawatts of electricity annually, and will prevent over 3,000 metric tons of carbon dioxide from entering the atmosphere. Along with its geothermal heating/cooling system, stormwater management, sustainable building materials and efficient waste disposal, Elevation 314 is “one of DC’s greenest buildings.”
